Transform/Manage Lead

Jonathan Hill

Jonathan leads all Transform and Manage projects for Poplar Land Company. Utilizing his operational and construction management experience, he works with landowners to execute the tailored plans we create to transform land and manage each property to realize its full potential.

Jonathan was born and raised in rural Surry County, North Carolina, where his grandparents had a small family tobacco farm. Spending his youth playing and working outdoors, he developed a lasting appreciation for the recreational and economic value of the land. After graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in natural resources, Jonathan spent the first several years of his career based in North Carolina but working throughout the Southeast as a technical specialist in the agricultural nutrient reclamation industry. That work took him across much of the United States after he relocated to the Houston, Texas, area.

Jonathan then spent a decade in Houston’s solid waste industry, where he oversaw the operations, construction, and expansion of multiple landfills and similar large-acreage facilities. This included the greenfield development of a 1,200-acre tract consisting of several large operational units, conservation areas, and managed forest lands.

After starting their family, Jonathan and his wife returned home to North Carolina. They now reside in Yadkinville with their two children.
